The informal economy in selected European countries

Factsheets

The informality country factsheets for selected European countries have a twofold objective. In the context of the COVID-19 crisis, the first objective is to provide a statistical snapshot on the extent and composition of  informal employment and by doing so, to focus on workers that tend to be invisible and among the most vulnerable. Selected indicators shed light on some pre-existing vulnerabilities  exacerbated by the crisis. A second objective is to lay the groundwork for the revision of the standards for statistics on informality, planned for 2023.
