ILO and European Commission reaffirm mutual partnership at 14th high-level meeting

The European Commission and the ILO held their 14th annual high-level meeting in Brussels.

On 11 and 12 October, the International Labour Office (ILO) and the European Commission (EC) held their 14th annual high-level meeting in Brussels. The meeting was co-chaired by ILO Deputy Director-General for Field Operations and Partnerships, Moussa Oumarou, and the Director-General of DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the EC, Joost Korte.

Participants exchanged on recent policy developments affecting the world of work. They also reviewed specific EU-ILO projects fostering decent work and noted with satisfaction that their cooperation has led to tangible results.

Representatives of both institutions further discussed key areas to focus on in the year ahead. These include the European Pillar of Social Rights, the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, trade and labour standards, women’s empowerment, decent work in global supply chains, migration, maritime and fishing issues and joint research activities. The ILO and the EC also agreed to join forces on the Future of Work Centenary Initiative.

Both institutions reaffirmed their partnership and commitment to closely work together on issues of common concern in the year ahead.
