The International Migration Programme of the ILO is organizing a photo contest in order to explore and to showcase the important and positive contributions that migrant domestic workers in Europe make to the societies they live in. This contest has been organized in the context of the ILO project ‘Promoting Integration for Migrant Domestic Workers in Europe’, with the financial support of the European Integration Fund.

The objective of the contest is to show how migrant domestic workers in Europe successfully integrate into the workplace and social life in Europe. The contest is looking for photographs that include migrant domestic workers in the work environment (which is most often their employer’s homes), in society, or in their own homes. The photographs should bring about a positive image of domestic work and migration and demonstrate the character and resilience of these workers.

A jury will award a total of three prizes:
  • 1st Prize: EUR 1000,-
  • 2nd Prize: EUR 600,-
  • 3rd Prize: EUR 400,-

And select up to twenty excellent photographs to display on the ILO website and at a public exhibition in Brussels. The three prize winners will also be invited to present their winning photo at the exhibition.

We invite anyone residing in Europe and over the age of 18 to participate. You can submit up to three photographs per person, no later than 30 April, 2013 at 23.59 (Central European Time), using the Official Entry Form, which can be found in English, French, Spanish, and Italian on the right-hand column of this page.
