The ILO is working with Qatar on promoting workers’ voice, strengthening national dispute settlement mechanisms, as well as on promoting social dialogue at both the enterprise level and at the national level.

    In 2019, Qatar introduced Joint Committees to promote employee participation and voice at the enterprise level. Joint Committees bring together an equal number of management and elected worker representatives to discuss a range of work related issues and to contribute to the prevention and peaceful resolution of workplace conflicts.

    In collaboration with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Qatar, the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands and the ILO, a training programme on the exercise of employee participation rights was piloted with four companies in Qatar.
