Workshop on promoting competency based training policies and systems in the GCC

A two day webinar will explore how the ILO can better support Gulf countries in the area of skills development and competency based learning.

The ILO, in collaboration with the Executive Bureau of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), will hold a two-day webinar to explore the scope for promoting market-relevant skills training and skills certification system for improved productivity and economic growth in GCC countries.

The virtual event will be held on 26 and 27 of July, from 1100-1300h Bahrain time.

The overall objective will be to explore the possibility of extending ILO’s specific support to GCC countries on Competency Based Learning, to minimize skills gaps and skills mismatches in these countries.

The webinar will focus on exploring four key topics: skills policy and governance; career guidance; skills anticipation and private sector engagement in training design and delivery; and competency standards.

The webinar follows on from a similar event held in June to discuss the GCC’s specific areas of need regarding promoting competency based training policies and systems.
