The Policy Advisory Committee on Fair Migration meet to discuss key regional and global migration policy challenges

Inter-regional body of experts meet to discuss key policy challenges for fair migration in the Arab States.

Members of the Policy Advisory Committee on Fair Migration meet for the second biannual meeting to discuss the Arab State’s most pressing policy challenges for fair migration.

Experts will discuss experiences and future directions in organizing domestic workers in the Arab States, and the link between the care economy and domestic work. Participants will assess the key findings and recommendations of the ILO’s upcoming white paper on Policy ideas and recommendations for a fair construction sector in the Middle East. On the second day, participants will participate in a presentation of key findings from the ILO Research and Advocacy Initiative for Mixed Migration Strategies in Jordan. Lastly, experts will discuss upcoming global and inter-regional developments and opportunities for fair migration, including the International Labour Conference general discussion on labour migration in June, and the Global Compacts on Refugees and Migration.

The Policy Advisory Committee will meet next in September 2017.

The FAIRWAY project, with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), hosts the Policy Advisory Committee on Fair Migration the Middle East. The Committee serves as a think tank and advisory forum to the ILO’s Regional Office for the Arab States, providing high quality advice on the ILO strategy to advocate for policy change on labour migration in the region.
