Child Labour Survey
ILO and constituents launch the Jordan National Child Labour Survey for 2015-2016
The survey will be a successor to the Jordan Child Labour Survey implemented by the Department of Statistics of Jordan in 2007-2008.
The ILO together with the Ministry of Labour and the Department of Statistics (DOS) will hold a meeting with representatives of the National Committee on Child Labour and other constituents as well as experts, to launch the National Child Labour Survey for 2015-2016 and discuss details of its implementation.
The survey will provide the first updated comprehensive reliable data and statistics on child labour since an ILO supported 2007-2008 national child labour survey, which was implemented by DOS in coordination with the Ministry of Labour.
It is proposed that the survey to be implemented with a complete geographical coverage of all households residing within Jordan, including the Syrian refugee population, as well as other migrant worker households resident in Jordan. The survey will also target to collect statistical information on child labour in hazardous work, which is one of the main components of the worst forms of child labour (WFCL).
The survey is part of the extended phase of the US-funded ‘’Moving Towards A Child Labour Free Jordan’’ project, which is working with national partners to implement of the National Framework to Combat Child Labour, aimed at tackling the issue throughout the Kingdom.
