Arab States research network on labour migration reconsiders recruitment practices

Leading practitioners and academics from the ILO’s Migration and Governance Network research network meet to discuss key issues related to labour migration and recruitment in the Arab region.

A workshop organized by the ILO’s Migration and Governance Network research network will bring together academics, practitioners and international experts concerned with labour migration in the Arab region to discuss reform of labour recruitment practices. The workshop will discuss key issues related to recruitment in order to take stock of practical and legal recruitment issues as well as articulate reforms to bring Arab states in line with international standards on recruitment. Participants at the workshop will also aim to develop a research road map, which will help inform discourse and policy around labour migration in the Arab region.

The meeting is part of the ILO project entitled ‘’Improving Labour Migration Governance and Combatting Human Trafficking in the Middle East,’’ which works to strengthen labour migration governance and combat human trafficking in the Arab region.
