Lebanon’s Domestic Workers’ Committee advocates for decent work by celebrating Women’s Day and Mother’s Day

The ILO and the first workers’ organisation for migrant domestic workers in the Arab region will celebrate Mother’s Day and Women’s Day to promote better conditions for domestic workers in Lebanon.

The Domestic Workers’ Committee (DWC) at the National Federation of Employees and Workers in Lebanon (FENASOL) is organising a special event under the banner of, “Equality for all Women… Equality for all Workers,” in order to celebrate both Women’s Day and Mother’s Day. A number of diplomatic delegations from migrant domestic workers’ countries of origin will also attend the event with speakers from Lebanon’s Ministry of Labour, the ILO, FENASOL and the DWC.

This event is is part of a wider effort by the DWC to galvanize the migrant domestic worker civil movement to achieve better working and living conditions for the community in Lebanon. The event takes place with the support of the ILO project “Promoting Rights of Women Domestic Workers (PROWD),” which is funded by the European Union.
