Jordan strengthens skills testing and certification

Technical and vocational training providers explore methods to enhance skills testing for the Jordanian job market.

Members of technical and vocational education and training institutes from across Jordan are attending a training workshop on methods and tools to test the skills of workers and job-seekers in different types of employment.

Participants will review and discuss a draft guide on skills testing currently being developed by the ILO and the Centre of Accreditation and Quality Assurance (CAQA) in Jordan.

The training is part of the ILO project “Tripartite Action for Youth Employment in Jordan” which aims to support government, workers unions and employers’ organizations to address youth employment issues.

Alongside its support to Jordan’s National Employment Strategy, the project supports CAQA in establishing system for skill testing by:
  • Developing a guide on skill testing in Jordan
  • Developing skill-testing tools for Auto Repair and Printing sectors
  • Training assessors and test developers
  • Identifying potential skills testing venues/locations
  • Developing computerized system for issuing the vocational certificates/ licenses
