Inter-Ministerial Planning Workshop on Piloting of the National Framework on Child Labour

The ILO will support the facilitation of a two-day workshop in Amman (18 and 19 December) on planning for the piloting of the National Framework on Child Labour (NFCL) in 2013.

Supporting the implementation of the National Framework on Child Labour (NFCL) is a key activity of the ILO-IPEC project “Moving Towards a Child Labour Free Jordan”. The NFCL was endorsed by the Cabinet in August 2011. The ILO-IPEC project aims to support the Ministries of Labour, Social Development, Education and other stakeholders pilot the implementation of NFCL in three geographical areas in Jordan throughout 2013.

This workshop is the first inter-ministerial workshop and the fourth in a series of individual workshops with the three ministries to assess the awareness and understanding of the NFCL, to review roles and responsibilities and identify capacity issues to be considered when planning the piloting of the NFCL.

This two-day workshop invites ten coordinators and decision-makers from each of the central ministries including child labour focal points from the field in addition to representatives from the social partners and national and international organisations who are members in the National Committee on Child Labour. The main objective of the workshop is to facilitate a detailed analysis of the challenges identified by the three ministries previously and the development of ways to address these in the short- and medium-term. The workshop will also initiate the process of planning the pilot implementation of the NFCL through assigning tasks and responsibilities for follow-up by different partners, particularly the central ministries, through the elaboration of a plan of action.
