Resources on Skills and employability in the Arab States

  1. ILO and key stakeholders review and validate new reports on Lebanon’s TVET system

    The reports on the accreditation of private skills training providers and on testing and certification practices will contribute to strengthening the governance of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training system in the country.

    The ILO has provided market-relevant skills training for Syrian and Lebanese youth that also supported the reconstruction of buildings affected by the Beirut explosion.

  5. ILO and the Central Bank of Iraq launch new financial initiative supporting youth and small and medium enterprises from host communities and displaced populations in Iraq

    With support from the Government of the Netherlands, the initiative will provide young women and men and small businesses with access to much-needed financial services that will help them start and develop their own businesses, while addressing barriers to decent self-employment.

    A side event at the Fifth Brussels Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region explored success stories and challenges of labour market access for refugees and the communities that host them. The side event was held by the ILO, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Netherlands' Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNICEF, and the Conference was hosted by the European Union.

    The initiative will support young people and existing businesses to access much-needed financial services that will help them start and develop their own businesses, while addressing barriers for access to decent self-employment.
