Employment services

The ILO offers support to its constituents related to the core functions of Public Employment Services (PES) and facilitates greater coordination among NGO’s providing job matching services, for greater efficiency.

Currently, the ILO is facilitating a network of 13 employment service centres in Jordan, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and UNHCR – a project that has placed more than 6,000 persons in a job in 2018. In 2014, the ILO conducted a one-week career guidance course in Jordan. In 2013, based on four years of collaboration in Lebanon, the ILO and UNRWA released a manual on Employment Service Centres for the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). Also that year, the ILO organised a regional knowledge management event on public employment services (PES) to reflect on lessons learnt and good practices. In the Kurdistan region, the ILO developed a roadmap for the Public Employment System which was designed based on research and consultations.
