    The report reviews the existing policies and practices of China concerning the attraction of foreign professionals and other skilled international migrants with a comparative analysis of talent attraction policies and their outcomes in Germany, Japan, and Singapore. Based on a comparative study, recommendations are put forward for China to improve its foreign talent policies and practices in order to be more successful in the international competition for talents.

    This booklet presents an account of the policies to promote rural migrant workers' employment and draws lessons from their main achievements and challenges that are worth sharing with policy-makers around the world. Section one presents the history of migration policies in China since the 1950s, a profile of rural migrant workers today and the main consequences of internal migration of the country. Section two describes the policies and measures implemented between 1992 and 2008 to promote the employment of rural labourers. Section three provides some details on the support provided to rural migrant workers during and after the financial crisis. Section four concludes with the main achievements, challenges and way forward.
