The SDG Open Day is public event hosted in Ulaanbaatar’s Sukhbaatar Square on September 10 by UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Mongolia, together with the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Ministry of Economy and Development, Ulaanbaatar Mayor's Office, Mongolian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to showcase and bring awareness to the progress made in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Mongolia, as well as “Vision-2050”, Mongolia's long-term development policy implemented by the Government of Mongolia.

The event brought together over 150 stakeholders, including development partners, businesses, academia and research institutions, civil societies. The event served as platform for highlighting and sharing information about initiatives and projects that target a plethora of issues, such as climate change, gender equality, and decent work, among many others, increasing public awareness, spurring innovation and collective action to advance the SDGs and Vision 2050.

ILO, as lead agency for SDG 8 "Decent Work and Economic Growth", in collaboration with its partners, the Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU), the Mongolian Employer’s Federation (MONEF), the Decent Work for Youth Network (DWYN) and the Training, Assessment and Research Institute for Labour and Social Protection, organized a booth to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. Having these diverse partners together was a powerful demonstration of collaboration towards advancing SDG 8, which helped create a dynamic and valuable experience for visitors.

ILO used the opportunity presented by the UN Open Day to engage with visitors and educate the public about decent work, conducting a poll with a question: “Is your work decent?”, as well as a whiteboard where visitors left their opinions on what they considered to be decent work.
After learning the visitors' understanding of decent work and their work experiences, the ILO staff explained international labour standards and key principles of decent work.

Moreover, a team of expert lawyers from the Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU) was available at the booth, free of charge, to provide visitors with legal perspective on employment contracts and labour rights in the context of Mongolia’s revised Labour Law.

During the event, the Mongolian Employer’s Federation (MONEF) engaged with visitors and showcased their core activities aimed at promoting decent work among employers by distributing pamphlets, as well as sharing infographic posters on the ILO Convention 190 to eliminate violence and harassment in the world of work. This included practical advice for visitors, equipping them with legal recourse and best-practice tools and strategies relating to sexual harassment in the workplace.

The Decent Work for Youth Network (DWYN) provided a set of interactive photo frames for visitors at the UN Open Day, promoting their campaign for raising awareness of youth labour rights in the context of the revised labour law.
