Training on Employment Services: C.88 and C.181

The training aims at improving capacity of employment services staff of the Labour and Social Welfare Services General Office in line with ILO Conventions 88 and 181.

The International Labour Organization and the Labour and Social Welfare Services General Office of Mongolia are jointly organizing a capacity development training on employment services on 16-17 May 2017 in Ulaanbaatar, in relation to Mongolia’s ratification of ILO’s two conventions concerning employment services – Employment Services Convention, 1948 (No.88) and Private employment Agencies Convention, 1997 (No.181). The two conventions are in force from 2016.

Government officials providing employment services in 21 aimags and 9 districts of the Ulaanbaatar city will participate in the training. The training will be organized in the meeting hall of the Labour and Social Welfare Services General Office. Ms Carmela Torres, ILO Senior Skills and Employability Specialist, will facilitate and provide technical inputs to the training.

Employment services is a new developing area of labour administration in Mongolia since early 2000. Private employment agencies are emerging. Mongolia is both a sending and receiving country of labour migrants.
