Forum on Green Jobs for a Better Life

The Forum is to introduce the concepts and development trend of the Green Jobs Initiatives, to exchange good practices and to discuss the roles of the Government, employers' and workers’ organizations in promoting the green jobs for the green economy.

2010 Shanghai Expo with the theme of "Better city, Better life" draws the global attention. This is a great event, from the perspective of city evolution and low carbon footprint, to explore the importance of sustainable development and demonstrate a bright future of human life in the future. The Government of China has invited the United Nations to present its work at the Shanghai Expo with its own integrated pavilion of 3,000 square meters. The UN Pavilion, bearing the theme of One Earth, One UN, illustrates challenges and opportunities posed by urbanization, globalization and climate change.

The ILO, together with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS), All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) and China Enterprises Confederation (CEC), jointly organizes the Forum with the participation of more than 100 representatives from local governments, workers’ and employers’ organizations, businesses, NGOs, academia and media.

An exhibition on the same theme displays at the UN Pavilion.
