BANGKOK and BEIRUT (ILO News) – The 17th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) of the International Labour Organization (ILO) will be held 6 to 9 December 2022 in Singapore, to discuss concrete steps to drive job-rich growth that is inclusive and transformative.

The APRM will bring together the ILO’s tripartite constituents representing Governments, workers and employers from Asia and the Pacific and the Arab States, as well as representatives of international organizations and civil society.

The event will help forge commitment among the tripartite constituents on common priorities for action that will help shape the ILO’s work in both regions for years to come. Participants include the new ILO Director-General, Gilbert F. Houngbo, as well as prime ministers, ministers and other high-level officials from across the two regions.

Thematic sessions (in panel discussion format) will reflect the major world of work challenges facing both regions as they emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. These include the need for policy reform to address structural inequalities in labour markets, steps to tackle persistent high levels of informality, how to widen social protection coverage as well as the need to drive productivity growth, quality job creation and skills development.

The previous APRM took place in Bali, Indonesia, in 2016. This year’s APRM in Singapore was postponed from 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Key sessions of the APRM will be webcast to the public via the ILO Live web platform.

APRM coverage, photos, videos and social media links, will be available via the APRM webpage www.ilo.org/aprm2022.

The official Meeting hashtag is #APRM2022.

The provisional 17th APRM Agenda is available online.

The working languages of the 17th APRM are Arabic, Chinese and English.
