The Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum brings together representatives from government, business, workers organisations and the international community for wide-ranging discussions on maximising the positive contribution of business to human rights and developmental goals in Asia.
As we approach ten years since the adoption of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, this years theme ‘A new decade of action?’ highlights the need for a collective commitment to meet the challenges the region faces in realising vital economic, environmental and social justice goals, even as the COVID 19 pandemic exacerbates many of these challenges.
The programme includes, among other subjects, discussions on regaining lost momentum in the fight against child labour, the role of human rights defenders, the place of human rights in conversations about migrants, education, equality and supply chains.
Guest speakers at the opening session include Roka Matbob, Minister with the Autonomous Bougainville Government, Human rights activist Ramanathan, and author William Dalrymple.
