    Tuvalu ratifies the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006)

    The Government of Tuvalu deposited with the International Labour Office the instrument of ratification of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006). Tuvalu, which became an ILO member in 2008, is the fifth member State from the Asia-Pacific region – after Australia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands and Singapore – to have ratified the landmark Maritime Labour Convention, 2006.

    Civil society discussed Social Protection Floor in Thailand

    Some 100 persons from civil society organizations (CSOs) and networks across Thailand working on issues related to the four guarantees within the Social Protection Floor (SPF) framework met in Bangkok on 23 February 2012. This included the network of older persons, children, HIV and AIDS and informal workers. The Forum was to promote civil society participation in the SPF process.
