ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder meets migrant workers
The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Guy Ryder met migrant workers from Myanmar at a Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) of the ILO ‘s Tripartite Action to Protect Migrants from Labour Exploitation (the TRIANGLE project) in Samut Prakarn Province, Thailand on 15 December 2012.
The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Guy Ryder met migrant workers from Myanmar at a Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) of the ILO ‘s Tripartite Action to Protect Migrants from Labour Exploitation (the TRIANGLE project) in Samut Prakarn Province, Thailand on 15 December 2012. This Centre run by Thai trade unions aims to improve support services and access to justice for migrant workers.
During the visit, the Director-General emphasized the protection of migrant workers as one of the top priorities of the ILO. He was touched by the remarkable stories of these migrant workers, which shows a good example on how workers can achieve their goal if they can stand together.
