Media advisory of a meeting on findings and recommendations related to garment and shoe factory fainting incidents organized by ILO-Better Factories Cambodia.

Why : Over 1,500 workers in garment and shoe factories have fainted within this year. At the annual Buyers' Forum organized by ILO-Better Factories Cambodia in September 2011, there was a call for urgent action to investigate the fainting incidents. In response, ILO-Better Factories Cambodia agreed to conduct a study to look into the causes of the incidents.

What : ILO-Better Factories Cambodia will convene a meeting to present the findings of the study and also to discuss recommended actions to prevent such incidents in the future. Stakeholders from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC), buyers' representatives, unions, and non-governmental organizations are expected to attend the meeting.
