  1. 12th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour

    25 - 26 September 2019

    The 12th AFML will be held on 25-26 September 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. It will be hosted by the Government of Thailand as the current chair of the ASEAN and the ASEAN Committee on the Implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers (ACMW).

  2. The 5th Regional Skills Technical Working Group Meeting Enhancing Human Resources Development in ASEAN: Progress of MRAs and MRS

    12 - 13 September 2019

    The Regional Skills Technical Working Group was established in 2014, functioning primarily as a technical level working group that supports all skills-related activities of the ILO including the mutual recognition of skills (MRS) in ASEAN. The Regional Skills Technical Working Group meet annually, with an aim to facilitate coordination and cooperation among the ASEAN Members States, together with the ASEAN Secretariat, in moving forward the on-going MRS efforts within the ASEAN. The 5th Regional Skills Technical Working Group Meeting is scheduled for 12-13 September 2019 in Hanoi, Viet Nam. This meeting would be the first forum where discussions on the progress on the implementation of both the mutual recognition arrangements (MRA) and MRS will be made, along with updates on the progress of the ASEAN Qualifications Reference Frameworks.

  3. Experts’ Meeting on the Pilot Implementation of the Mutual Recognition of Skills for the Logistics and Transportation Skills Area

    3 - 5 September 2019

    Identify skills area and explore the policy options and the best practices for the pilot implementation of MRS on Logistics/ Transport among Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam.

    Ahead of the Youth Climate Summit leading up UN Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit in September, the ILO and the Environmental Research Institute of Chulalongkorn University are hosting a dialogue bringing youth to discuss how to ensure a just transition to a greener world of work. #ClimateAction

  3. Fifth Technical Meeting of Focal Specialists on International Labour Migration Statistics in ASEAN

    27 - 28 August 2019

    This meeting discusses international labour migration data statistics and brings together representatives from national governments, the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Statistics, and ILO.

  4. Workshop on Reintegration Programmes for Returning Migrant Workers

    27 - 28 August 2019

    This workshop will enable knowledge-sharing and collaboration on return and reintegration good practices for the ASEAN region, promote cooperation on bilateral and regional levels, and facilitate the development of the ASEAN Guidelines on Effective Return and Reintegration

  6. National Strategic Planning Forum to Develop a Joint Road-map for Fiji as a Pathfinder Country to Achieve SDG Target 8.7

    The overall aim of the strategic planning forum is to reinforce national commitment and accelerate actions towards the achievement of SDG Target 8.7, in line with Fiji’s status as a Pathfinder Country for Alliance 8.7.

  7. ILO and Partners Celebrate International Day of World’s Indigenous Peoples 2019

    The International Day of World’s Indigenous Peoples was celebrated in Bangladesh on 6 August 2019 at an event organized by The Indigenous Peoples Forum and Kapaeeng Foundation the ILO, UNDP, Australian Aid, and Royal Danish Embassy all attended the event.

  8. HIV/AIDS Training for Labour Inspectors

    1 - 3 August 2019

    ILO responds to the HIV epidemic by providing technical assistance and support through a range of workplace programs. Specifically to contribute concretely to UNAIDS 90-90-90 treatment targets and more specifically to conduct HIV confidential and voluntary HIV counselling and testing services at the workplace since 2013.

  1. National Tripartite Preparatory Workshops for the 12th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour

    30 July - 13 September 2019

    National tripartite preparatory workshops for the 12th AFML will be held in several ASEAN Member States to take stock on the progress of stakeholders in implementing the previous AFML recommendations and to discuss the themes of the 12th AFML.

  2. Pacific tripartite high level forum on climate change and decent work

    24 - 26 July 2019

    Following the adoption of the ILO's centenary declaration, government, workers and employers representatives from 11 Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand will meet to discuss how to develop a human-centered approach to the future of work in the Pacific region.

  5. Strengthening bi-partite social dialogue mechanisms for enhanced workplace cooperation

    11 - 12 July 2019

    The ILO’s tripartite constituents in Sri Lanka have identified the strengthening of social dialogue and workplace cooperation as a critical factor for improved dispute resolution. The Department of Labour has engaged employers and trade unions on labour dispute settlement at enterprise-level in the past. However, this has not been successful due to differing interests of employers and trade unions.

  6. Seminar on sharing of Good Practices on Migration Governance

    10 July 2019

    A one day seminar on Sharing of Good Practices on Migration and Governance is being held under the EU-India Cooperation and Dialogue on Migration and Mobility Project implemented by the ILO, in partnership with the ICMPD and India Centre for Migration.

  7. Enhanced Dispute Resolution through Enterprise-level Grievance Handling Mechanisms

    8 - 9 July 2019

    The ILO’s tripartite constituents in Sri Lanka have identified the strengthening of social dialogue and workplace cooperation as a critical factor for improved dispute resolution.   8. Provincial Workshops on Strategic Compliance Planning for Labour Inspectors with a focus on Indonesia's Fishing Sector

    8 - 14 July 2019

    In Indonesia, an ongoing Government priority is to improve decent working conditions in the fishing sector, including through better enforcement by the labour inspectorate and strengthened coordination with other relevant regulators.

  9. ILO/ASEAN Seminar on The Future of Social Protection

    4 - 5 July 2019

    During the 15th Senior Labour Officials Meeting (15th SLOM), ILO is organising a seminar on July 4 and 5 in collaboration with ASEAN and the Government of Thailand, while inviting senior social security experts of ASEAN tripartite stakeholders.
