  1. Assessors training and assessors certification for ecotourism tour guides

    12 - 17 December 2011

    To implement a standard competency based assessment the Workplace Assessor Training and Certification Programmeis planned to take place in Pasuruan East java for 13 trainers who recently graduated from the program’s ECO tour guide TOT program. The assessor training and certification program shall be led by accredited master trainerassisted by an assistant master trainer.

  2. Skills certification for experienced eco tour guides

    12 - 14 December 2011

    The objective of the assessment and certification is for the tour guides to be equipped with recognized certification and enable them to serve as trainers of new tour guides and upgrading of less experienced guides. This certification process is one of the identified activities under the green jobs in Asia sector demonstration project.

  3. Thematic Year-end Reception, Media Recognition and UN Photo Exhibition Featuring Development Initiatives and Partnerships with Indigenous Peoples

    On 12 December 2011, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for the Philippines organized a ‘Thematic Year-End Reception, Media Recognition and UN Photo Exhibition’ featuring development initiatives and partnerships with Indigenous Peoples. The event was held in the context of the implementation of the ILO’s Indigenous Peoples Development Programme (IPDP) which is based in the Caraga Region of northeastern Mindanao.

  4. Expert Meeting on Social Security and Social Protection Floor: Learning from Regional Experiences

    12 - 15 December 2011

    The social protection floor is the basic level of social protection that should be guaranteed to all residents in all countries world wide. Although most Asian countries have already fairly developed social protection mechanisms in place, and are not starting from scratch, there is evidence that in many cases the basic entitlement to the social protection floor is not yet met. This situation is shared in most developing and middle- income countries in the world.

  5. Media Recognition on Indigenous Peoples

    12 December 2011

    “Pagkilala sa mga Natatanging Kuwentong Katutubo” (Recognition of Outstanding stories on Indigenous Peoples) recognizes the efforts of Filipino media practitioners who have been able to provide the audience with “real stories” that contribute to the advocacy on indigenous peoples’ rights. The ILO supports the media recognition, in partnership with Probe Media Foundation Inc. and the Philippine Press Institute, which aims to increase awareness on issues related to indigenous peoples.

  6. Tripartite Workshop on Maritime Labour Convention 2006

    10 December 2011

    Ministry of Labour and Employment, ILO Country Office, and Bangladesh Marine Academy jointly organized a technical workshop on Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 on 10 December 2011. The main objective of the workshop was to share the gap analysis between MLC and the relevant national legal instruments with the Stakeholders.

  7. National Workshop on Achievements of the ILO/MOLISA/Japan OSH Project

    9 December 2011

    The objectives of the workshop are to share and assess the project’s achievements as well as discuss on how to sustain the success of the project in the future. The workshop is also an opportunity for participants and enterprises to exchange and share good practices in improving work conditions at the workplaces for further strengthening of occupational safety and health in Viet Nam.

  8. Employment Strategy Seminar

    9 December 2011

    The seminar focusing on three discussion sessions: (1) Viet Nam employment challenge and mainstreaming employment in the SEDS; (2) improving productive employment: raising productivity and skills in Viet Nam; and (3) institutions for promoting employment; and one squared debate on the strategy with top representatives from the institution involved in the formulation of the employment strategy.

  9. Tripartite Workshop on Skills for Trade and Economic Diversification (STED) Research Findings: Agro-Processing Sector and Pharmaceutical Sector

    7 - 8 December 2011

    International Labour Organization (ILO) and Bangladesh Employers' Federation (BEF) jointly organized a technical workshop on the research findings of a study on the agro-processing sector and the pharmaceuticals sector. The workshop was held on 7 and 8 December 2011 at the BEF Conference Hall in Dhaka. The workshop intended to share the preliminary findings on skill demands for current and future needs of two important export sectors: agro-processing and pharmaceuticals industry.

  10. Action Against Gender-Based Violence at Work - A workshop for employers

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), in partnership with the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) is organizing the above workshop under the Joint United Nations Programme on Prevention of and Response to Gender-Based Violence in Sri Lanka. Participants of this workshop will be exposed to an overview on gender, prevention of gender-based violence and sexual harassment at work and the corresponding legal framework in Sri Lanka. The workshop will also provide a platform to share experiences, best practices and information with individuals and/or organizations with interests in action against GBV and identify appropriate strategies for collaboration. Speakers and participants for the workshop will be drawn from the private sector, employers' organizations and international agencies, all working on this important agenda.

  11. MDG F champion and partners in solidarity series: "Investing in human capital for the MDGs"

    The Millennium Development Goal Fund (MDG F) Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Work for Filipino Youth is one of the four joint programmes in the Philippines that will be participating in the Champion and Partners in Solidarity Series on 6 and 13 December 2011.

  12. 15th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting – Special Session on "Partnerships for decent work"

    This panel focuses on ways to support the building of new, stronger partnerships for decent work in Asia-Pacific. It looks at different types of partnerships, including public-private partnerships, south-south and triangular cooperation, and consider new dimensions for established ILO partnerships.

  13. 15th Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting - Thematic panel III: Rights at work and social dialogue

    Discussions in this panel focuses on how governments can reduce informality, regulate the employment relationship and target persistent discrimination.

  14. 15th Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting – Special session on “Sustaining the Future with Green Jobs”

    5 December 2011

    This panel shares information on the opportunities and challenges created by the shift to sustainable patterns of growth. It looks at ways that 'climate smart' policies can create jobs while ensuring the just transition necessary to allow workers and employers to adapt to new roles and responsibilities.

  15. 15th Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting - Thematic panel II: Productive employment, sustainable enterprises and skills development

    This panel looks at issues relating to poverty reduction, productive employment and social and economic mobility, and particular attention is given to the needs of young people.

  16. 15th Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting - Thematic panel I: Coordinated macroeconomic, employment and social protection policies

    This panel considers ways that trade and investment policies can work with tax and social protection systems to support employment, and ensure that the benefits of growth and productivity are shared more widely.

  17. Enterprise Program – Pilot Training in the Automotive Sector (Philippines)

    5 - 7 December 2011

    The training activity is part of the Enterprise Level Initiative (ELI) of the GBA Project, being undertaken at a pilot phase with the auto sector supply chain.

  18. 15th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting – Special Session on “Natural Disaster Response with a Central Focus on Employment Policy” by the Government of Japan

    Asia and the Pacific is the more affected by natural disasters than any other region of the world. This Special Session, organised by the Government of Japan, discusses the central role of employment policies in natural disaster response. It includes discussions of lessons learned from past as well as continuing natural disaster response efforts in the region.
