Objective

Continuing on exchanges and webinars conducted in previous years, the joint ILO-UN Women Safe and Fair programme, under the technical lead of ILO, is initiating a series of thematic webinars on issues of labour migration, which will bring together resource persons, experts, stakeholders from ASEAN countries and other regions on pertinent topics. The purpose of the thematic webinars is to adopt a strengthened regional approach to meet the needs of women migrant workers. This would mean for instance, linking information and services across a women migrant worker’s migration journey, discussions on skills opportunities for women, including skills recognition, access to better jobs, intersectional dimensions of discrimination in the world of work, discussions on issues related to fair recruitment among others.s

"Intersecting Identities and experiences during labour migration: Perspectives of migrants with diverse sexual orientation, gender identities, gender expressions and sex characteristics (SOGIESC)" is the first of the Safe and Fair's regional thematic webinar series in 2022 which aims to highlight challenges and opportunities labour migrants with diverse SOGIESC face in ASEAN region and ways of rights protection.
