About the webinar

The COVID-19 crisis is both a wake-up call and an opportunity to build a better future for people and planet. This webinar brings together experts from the Textile and Garment Research Network in Asia to discuss environmental regulatory systems and strategies to contribute to a healthy, gender sensitive, and resilient future for the garment sector in Asia.

In this webinar we present a comparative analysis of environmental regulatory systems for the textile and garment sector in four countries – Viet Nam, Indonesia, Cambodia and Bangladesh. This includes analysis of the composition of regulatory frameworks, key actors’ roles and responsibilities, and enforcement actions; and identifies how supply chain characteristics in each country manifest in different environmental impacts and challenges for their regulatory systems. We highlight similarities and differences where knowledge products, capacity building and knowledge sharing activities across the sector in the Asia region can contribute to enhanced regulation and improved environmental sustainability.

The technical webinar will bring together experts in the field to discuss preliminary findings and emerging themes. The webinar is a consultation dialogue with the taskforce members of the Textile Eco-innovation Research Network (TERN) of the Decent Work in the Garment Sector Supply Chains in Asia project (ILO-Sida).
