Sub-regional meeting to validate findings of the Migrant Welfare Fund Feasibility Study conducted in Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos

The ASEAN TRIANGLE Project and the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Government of Laos PDR co-host the Sub-regional meeting to validate findings of the Migrant Welfare Fund Feasibility Study on 26-27 May 2015 in Vientiane, Laos PDR. The Migrant Welfare Fund Feasibility Study conducted in Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos documents the current welfare programmes and services available to migrant workers in these three countries; identifies the needs and gaps in the provision of migrant welfare programmes and services; analyses pre-requisites required for establishing migrant welfare fund programmes; and finally provides recommendations on the actions that must be taken in order to develop an appropriate migrant welfare fund system. In order to guide the finalisation of the study, a sub-regional validation workshop is convened to discuss its findings and to agree on next steps, including pilot initiatives.
