Labour Inspection Management Workshop

A 3-day consultation meeting co-organized by the ILO/IPEC project "Addressing child labour in the shrimp and seafood processing areas in Thailand" and the Department of Labour Protection of the Ministry of Labour on issues concerning labour administration and inspection needs.

ILO-IPEC Thailand and the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare (DLPW) are co-organizing a the "Labour Inspection Management Workshop" during the dates 28-29 June 2012. The workshop is intended to be first of series of training efforts that will be discussed and further planned jointly in the management workshop. The event is intended for DLPW senior labour and safety inspectors to discuss technical and strategic issues concerning labour administration and inspection needs with ILO technical specialists from Geneva.

The outcome of the workshop will be a set of recommendations that can form the basis for a plan of action including series of training seminars and materials development such as updating of inspection guidelines to strengthen Thailand's systems of labour administration and inspection.

It is expected that 30 experienced labour and safety inspectors will participate. The exercise will provide an opportunity to share current labour inspection innovations ad effective efforts on detecting child labour and foced labour situations at the national, regional and global levels by ILO technical specialists from Bangkok and from the ILO Labour Administration unit in Geneva.
