Labour migration inclusive terminology

Language is our main form of communication. The way we talk about people or groups of people shape the way we think about others. The right terms can affirm identities, make others feel valued and respected, and challenge discriminatory attitudes. The wrong ones can disempower and reinforce exclusion and discrimination.

The use of an inclusive language enables everyone to feel that they are being reflected in what is being said and helps build respectful relationships. The aim of this terminology glossary is to increase awareness of discriminatory language in everyday use and to offer a more respectful alternative.

TRIANGLE in ASEAN is committed to promote an inclusive language that is free from discriminatory terms or prejudice.
