  5. Declaration of "Child Labour Free Zones"

    On the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour, additional four wards within Kavrepalanchok and Lalitpur districts are geared up to translate their commitments into action by declaring "Child Labour Free Zones". As per the plan, ward numbers 12 and 13 in Panauti, ward no. 7 in Banepa municipality including ward no. 20 in Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City will be declared as "Child Labour Free Zones" on 12 and 14 June respectively. The individual houses, workshops and firms in the child labour free zones to be declared by the ACHIEVE Project supported municipalities will be hosting the "Green Flags" symbolizing they are free from child labour. Six wards, one in Lalitpur and five in Kavrepalanchok were declared as "Child Labour Free Zones" in 2014 and 2015 respectively and are monitored upon periodically to prevent the child labour recurrence.

    This joint meeting facilitated by ILO-ITUC-IDWF-FES, builds upon the outcomes of previous sessions with multi-stakeholders including the ILO meeting on April 2-4, 2016 as well FES meetings coordinated with ITUC in cooperation with the IDWF earlier.
