    Neneng lives in Lawang Kajang, a small village along Kapuas River in Central Kalimantan, but is originally from Katujung, a village in the neighbouring district. She is Dayak, the main indigenous group of Borneo and married Junedi from Lawang Kajang in the early 1990s. Now, Junedi is the head of the village and they have four children.

  3. When Nua did not have to fish in the Kayahan river of Central Kalimantan

    Every day at 4 o’clock in the morning, Nua, 53 years old, starts the day, jumps on her boat in front of her house and begins paddling towards the Lake Tundai across the Kayahan River. She remains at the lake until four in the afternoon, trying to catch as much fish as possible. On a good day, two kilograms of fish will bite the hook, but very often she only brings an average of one kilogram back to the village.

    Henggo is a 24 years old fisherman from Tumbang Nusa who lives with his family nearby the Kayahan River of Central Kalimantan. Every day, except Friday, they get on two boats to catch fishes in the river and a lake nearby. The day’s catch depends very much on the season, but on average five kilograms of fish will bite the hook.

  5. ILO-GLACIER National Knowledge Sharing Workshop

    The ILO Office for Indonesia and Timor-Leste has implemented an innovative pilot project called Green Livelihood Access for Central Kalimantan’s Inclusive Environmental Response to climate change (GLACIER), funded by Norway through the Institutional Preparation Task Force of the Republic of Indonesia for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (SATGAS REDD+) and UNDP in the Central Kalimantan pilot province.

  6. Unemployment insurance in Viet Nam, an experience to be shared

    Viet Nam launched its unemployment insurance (UI) scheme in 2009. The UI scheme insures now more than 8 million workers. The International Labour Organization, mainly with the support from the ILO/Japan Multi-bilateral Programme, has provided technical support and capacity building services to the government and social partners to continue improving the scheme.

    The ILO Regional Director for Asia and Pacific, Mr Yoshiteru Uramoto, made his first visit to Pakistan from 12-13 November 2013. During his visit he met the constituents, ILO Office staff and other development partners to understand more about the social and economic context of the country, the implementation of the decent work agenda and explore possibilities of ILO support to the country.
