  1. Private sector called to prevent child labour in hazelnut harvesting in Akçakoca Hazelnut Panel

    Hazelnut Panel brought together hazelnut producers and exporters to discuss current issues in the sector as well as a call made to end worst forms of child labour on August 31, 2015 in Akçakoca Disctrict of Düzce Province. Panel is organised by Turkish Exporters’ Assembly, İstanbul Exporters Association, Black Sea Exporters Association and Hazelnut Promotion Group.

    Seasonal Agriculture workers are departing from the region with the end of hazelnut harvest season. Teachers of Hendek Social Support Centre in Sakarya Province, which was established within the scope of “Integrated Model for the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture in Hazelnut Harvesting in Turkey Project” said farewell to their students with a picnic in the forest. Centre is due to open in 2016 along with other Social Support Centres.

  5. Students of Çilimli Social Support Centre have presented the season end performance to their families.

    Students of Çilimli Social Support centre, which was established within the scope of “Integrated Model for the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture in Hazelnut Harvesting in Turkey Project” have presented a performance to their families that they have prepared during their education programme in support centre. 60 students registered in the support centre will say farewell to their teachers until the next year.

  6. School classes end in Ünye Social Support Centre

    Ünye Social Support Centre that was established within the scope of “Integrated Model for the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture in Hazelnut Harvesting in Turkey Project” is closed for 2015 as the workers has departed the settlement areas with the end of the hazelnut harvest season.

  8. ILO welcomes G20 priority of boosting growth, jobs and reducing inequalities

    The ILO Director-General highlighted ministers’ agreement to undertake a mix of policies using “wage-setting mechanisms, institutions for social dialogue, social protection systems, employment services and active labour market policies.”
