Work-Based Learning Programme (İŞMEP) applications open in Gaziantep!

The new work-based learning programme of the ILO Office for Turkey, İŞMEP, continues supporting employment opportunities and skills matching. Through İŞMEP, Turkish citizens and Syrians under Temporary Protection will be formally employed from the first day of their participation in the programme and will have the opportunity to build, enhance and adapt their skills both on-the-job and off-the-job.

The programme, implemented with the Gaziantep Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (GESOB), will start soon to support jobseekers and employers in Gaziantep. Participants will be placed into jobs and benefit from technical and vocational training both in the enterprises they work, and at the GESOB Vocational Training Center. Each participant will be able to benefit from the program for six months.

All jobseekers between the ages of 18-40 can apply to İŞMEP. Women, youth and persons with disabilities are encouraged to enroll to the programme. In the case of women and persons with disabilities, individuals over the age of 40 may also participate in the programme.
In the context of İŞMEP implemented together with GESOB, the following occupations will be targeted:
  • Automotive Brake Maintenance Repairer
  • CNC Operator
  • Electric Arc Welder
  • Lockstitch Operator
  • LPG Installation Maintenance Repairer
  • Protective Clothing Sewer
  • Steel Welder
  • Weak Current Fitter
  • Wood Skeleton CNC Operator
  • Wooden Frame Assembler
  • Woven Apparel Operator

İŞMEP is implemented within the Promoting Decent Work for Syrians under Temporary Protection and Turkish Citizens Project under the Refugee Response Programme of the ILO Office for Turkey. The Project is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany through the KfW Development Bank and implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for Turkey in coordination with the Turkish Ministry of Labour and Social Security Directorate General for International Labour Force.
