Members of SADA Women’s Cooperative Trained On Preparations For General Assembly

News | 05 December 2019
Capacity-building training continues in cooperation with the Youth Deal Cooperative for the members of SADA Women’s Cooperative established under the project “Strengthening the Resilience of Syrian Women and Girls” funded by the European Union and Government of Japan, implemented by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO), Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality (GMM) and Association for Solidarity with Asylum-Seekers and Migrants (ASAM) as implementing partners.

The topic of “Governance Systems in Cooperatives” was addressed at the training on 27-28 November 2019 with the participation of 50 members of the cooperative at SADA Women Development and Solidarity Centre.

The training on the first day featured information on the importance of general assemblies for cooperatives, preparation for cooperatives, and how to conduct a general assembly, as well as, in the afternoon, a simulation of how a general assembly proceeds.

Cooperative members, dividing into groups, role-played the preparation and conduct of a general assembly. On the second day of training, the Cooperative’s administration board and supervisory board members both made presentations on their functions, and role-played as groups.

Thus, the training as a whole represented the start of preparations for the first general assembly of SADA Women’s Cooperative anticipated in 2020.
