News | 28 August 2019
The capacity-building training continues, in cooperation with Genç-İşi Kooperatif (“Youth Deal Cooperative”) for the members of SADA Women’s Cooperative, supported and operating under the Project “Strengthening the Resilience of Syrian Women and Girls” being implemented by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN Women) with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Association for Solidarity with Asylum-Seekers and Migrants (ASAM) as implementing partners. At the first of the training series held on 23 August 2019, 50 women partners of the cooperative took part in the work as three groups.

At the first group training with the Management and Supervision Board members of SADA Women’s Cooperative, discussions were held on the functions and responsibilities of the Management and Supervision Board; and the charter of the cooperative was reviewed. The training also included interactive work on the importance and role of the general assemblies of the cooperative. As the general assembly was exemplified as a bus full of passengers, the management board was the driver; the supervision board was the driver’s assistant, and the passengers were the general assembly. It was underlined that the general assembly would decide where the bus would go, and the management board was responsible for taking the bus to the direction set by the general assembly, and the supervision board as the driver’s assistant should check that the bus was on the right track.

At the second group training with cooperative members from the textiles and shoe-upping workshop, various discussions were held on the concepts of competition and solidarity, and assessments were made on cooperativism. The training session with cooperative members from the kitchen workshop dwelled also on the concepts of competition and solidarity to review the cooperative’s works. The training seminar concluded with a study of differences between a cooperative and a company on various examples with participant interaction.
