SADA Women’s Cooperative Welcomes the Social Cooperative Training and Publicity Train at Gare De Gaziantep

The Social Cooperative Training and Publicity Train that departed on 5 April 2019 from Gare de Sirkeci, Istanbul arrived on 15 April in Gaziantep as its sixth stop.

The Train is designed by the Ministry of Trade to promote and publicise social cooperatives and enable higher numbers of disadvantaged individuals to benefit. The Welcome Ceremony at Gare de Gaziantep was attended by Mr. Davut Gül, Governor of Gaziantep; Mr. E. Alper Bozkurt; Deputy Director-General of Trades, Crafts and Cooperativism; Mr. Kürşat Turpçu, Provincial Director of Trade; and women from the newly-established SADA Women’s Cooperative under the Project “Strengthening the Resilience of Syrian Women and Girls” being implemented in Gaziantep jointly by UN Women, ILO and ASAM, who made a colourful event with their placards and joyful enthusiasm.

Following the Welcome Ceremony at Gare de Gaziantep, a meeting was held at Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce with 50 women partners of the SADA Women’s Cooperative who narrated their stories of establishing the cooperative, how Syrian and Turkish women came together and collaborated. Women were very happy and keen that all presentations and speeches were translated into Arabic for the presence of the SADA Women’s Cooperative. The Cooperative also displayed its products at a stand at the Chamber of Commerce, treated refreshments to the guests and publicised its newly-established existence.
