Enhancing web capacity in ILO offices in Western & Central Africa

23 - 27 July 2012, Dakar, Senegal

The ILO Regional Office for Africa, in collaboration with the Decent Work Technical Support Team in Dakar, the Country Offices based in French-speaking Africa (Abidjan, Kinshasa and Yaoundé) and the Country Office based in Algiers, organized a short practical and bilingual training program in both English/French to build and sustain the capacity of these offices to jointly develop and maintain creative, attractive and informative websites.

This training is a first practical step towards the Communications Skills Workshop scheduled from 1-5 October 2012 in Geneva, Switzerland particularly when discussions will focus on three key sections such as the new ILO Digital Strategy, the new News and Media Section and the new Knowledge and Library Management System.

The Regional Office for Africa has been implementing a new phase focused on modernizing the websites in the region together with a specific training for IT/Communication focal points. Strengthening the ILO's web services in Africa is of critical importance given the need to better serve the tripartite constituents, provide on-time information to development partners and the public as well to increase quantity and quality of web consultation and media coverage.
