ACCEL Africa - Côte d’Ivoire

Selon l'Enquête nationale sur la situation de l'emploi et du travail des enfants (2013), réalisée avec l'appui de l'OIT, en Côte d'Ivoire, 28,2 % (un peu moins de deux millions d'enfants) des enfants de 5 à 17 ans sont engagés dans des activités économiques.

Les secteurs les plus touchés sont l'agriculture (53,4 % des enfants) et les services (35,6 %). Environ 20 % des enfants (toujours dans la tranche d’âge 5-17 ans) travaillent, dont les trois quarts ont moins de 14 ans.

L'enquête nationale sur les pires formes de travail des enfants (2011) réalisée par l'Institut national de statistique (INS) a révélé que 73,5 % des garçons travaillent dans l'agriculture contre 35,2 % des filles.

En Côte d’Ivoire, ACCEL Africa se focalisera sur les chaînes de valeurs du Cacao et de l’Or.

    ILO builds national capacity to analyze data on child and forced labor in Africa

    The International Labour Office under its project “Accelerating action for the elimination of child labour in supply chains in Africa” (ACCEL Africa), conducts a training on data analysis relating to child labour and forced labour for 28 participants from national statistics offices, labour ministries and regional workers and employers' organizations of the Economic Community of the West Africa States (ECOWAS) and the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) in Africa.

    Next steps to end child labour in global supply chains

    A major conference takes place this week in the Netherlands that aims to set out the next steps in ending child labour in global supply chains. ILO Director-General Guy Ryder took part in a panel discussion at the conference, which has been organized by the Dutch government in collaboration with the ILO, the Global March Against Child Labour and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

    US delegation visits ILO projects addressing child labour in cocoa-farming communities in Côte d'Ivoire

    Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, September 3, 2019 – A delegation of staff members from the United States House of Representatives visited a cocoa-growing community, which benefited from four International Labour Office (ILO) projects aimed at eliminating child labour and improving occupational safety and health (OSH) for young farmers and communities in Côte d’Ivoire.
