Social Protection in Zambia

The Government of the Republic of Zambia has in recent years increased and strengthened its Social Protection response in order to tackle high levels of poverty and vulnerability in the country. Poverty and vulnerability are one of the key pillars that the Government aims to address in the implementation of the Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP, 2017-2021).

In order to achieve this, the Government through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, other line ministries and stakeholders have been implementing several social protection interventions, providing both contributory and non-contributory transfers. Against this background, ZSPW is an annual event open to the public and brings together a wide range of stakeholders including Government, Civil Society Organizations, Academia, Faith Based Organizations, Social Partners, Cooperating Partners, Private Sector, Beneficiaries, Media and most importantly the general public. ZSPW serves as a platform to foster and shape the public debate around social protection, where all participants will have the opportunity to make their voices heard and contribute to the course of development of Social Protection in Zambia.

To further spur the public debate discussions on Social Media, the event will be held under the hashtag: #ZSPW2018 on all social media platforms. For latest information on the ZSPW, kindly like Social Protection in Zambia page on: https://www.facebook.com/SPinZambia/
