ILO DG to address the Third International Forum on Employment Policies

The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Guy Ryder, will take part in the Third International Forum on Employment Policies from 2 to 3 March 2016, in Marrakesh, Morocco.

ALGIERS/ADDIS ABABA/MARRAKESH (ILO News) – The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Guy Ryder, will attend the Third International Forum on Employment Policies aimed at promoting growth through inclusive labour market policies and institutions.

The conference – organized by the Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs of Morocco, in collaboration with the ILO and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) – will discuss good practices in macroeconomic and employment policies that could reduce inequality.

Prior to the Conference, from 29 February to 1 March, Mr Ryder would have met in Rabat high level government officials from the Kingdom of Morocco, including the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the House and the tripartite constituents.

In Marrakesh, on 2 March, the ILO Director-General will address some 200 participants representing Ministries of Labour and Social Affairs of African and Arab States as well as senior representatives from Asian, European and American countries.

The forum will gather delegates of employers’ and workers’ organizations, regional and international institutions working in the field of employment and development, including the Arab Labour Organization, the World Bank, UNDP, and the European Investment Bank.

Key panel sessions will focus on building consensus around the economic integration of young people in the labour markets, the promotion of greater gender equality and the impact of labour markets on migrant workers.

The forum will also explore how labour market policies and institutions could promote a more equitable and inclusive growth leading to greater decent job opportunities and innovative income generation ideas.
