ILO commits to work with Egypt to create more job opportunities

The ILO and Egypt’s Ministry of Manpower and Migration signed three protocols of cooperation that support more and better quality employment in Egypt.

Cairo (ILO News): The ILO and Egypt’s Ministry of Manpower and Migration (MoMM) signed three protocols of cooperation that support more and better quality employment in Egypt. The protocols that were signed on 31 March 2015, aim at increasing job opportunities in Egypt as well as improving the quality of working conditions.

Among the three protocols, protocols I and II aim to contribute to the increase of decent work opportunities for young men and women in a number of governorates, namely: Minya, Port Said, Red Sea, Qalubia, and Menoufia.

These two protocols will support the MoMM and other relevant ministries, including other national partners engaged in the promotion of public and private employment, services to work efficiently to match supply and demand with skills, in addition to promoting business services so that young people can take advantage of them.

The third Protocol aims at strengthening compliance with work criteria; supporting productivity within export factories by enhancing the capacity of national labour inspectors and supporting employers to improve compliance with labour and productivity standards.
Dr. Nahed El- Ashry, Minister of MoMM expressed her hope for greater synergies between the Ministry and ILO with the primary objective of supporting more and better quality employment in Egypt.
