RABAT (ILO News) - The International Labour Organisation (ILO) Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Africa, Mr. Aeneas Chapinga Chuma, has concluded his first official mission to Morocco since his appointment in March 2014.

Mr. Chuma held meetings with Hon. Abdeslam Seddiki, Minister of Employment and Social Affairs and the Secretary-General, Mr Mohamed Boutata as well as the respective Directors of Employment, Social Protection of Workers, Human Resources, Budget and General Affairs, Labour, and the Head of the International Cooperation Department.

The visit included comprehensive discussions with senior representatives of the social partners, ILO Governing Body members from the Employers’ Group (GCEM, Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc) and Workers’ Group (UMT, Union marocaine du travail).

A national consultation on employment was recently held in cooperation with the ILO to define areas of cooperation with the tripartite constituents, including the promotion of international labour standards, employment, occupational safety and health as well as social dialogue.

In Morocco, Aeneas Chapinga Chuma also attended the Ninth edition of the African Development Forum  and more particularly in a Roundtable discussion on domestic resource mobilization in Africa.
