The National Confederation of Eritrean Workers (NCEW), the Eritrean Federation of Employers (EFE) and the ILO reviewed the Decent Work Agenda for Eritrea and proposed a way forward.
During the review workshop, that was organized from September 3-5, 2013, the Minister of Labour indicated that even though some collective agreements have been signed at company level, agreements have not been reached at sectoral and national levels. However, all the participants conveyed their willingness to involve in social dialogue to promote social peace and reduce social unrest. Based on the presentation made by the ILO concerning the mandate, structure and other features of social dialogue, three working groups were organized to set priorities for Eritrea within the context of the ILO mandate. In terms of follow-up, it was agreed that ACTRAV and ACT/EMP will continue to provide support to NCEW and to EFE while the ILO will mainly focus in strengthening the technical capacities of involved personnel.
