    The August 2020 Edition of our quarterly newsletter brings forth interesting articles amid the COVID-19 outbreak. This edition predominantly features articles on how the Country Office – Lusaka in three locations (Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique) has responded to cushion the impact of the pandemic on governments, employers and workers. Importantly, the edition gives the perspective of the ILO’s response to the pandemic through various measures being put in place to mitigate job losses and the negative impact COVID-19 has had on people’s livelihoods across the globe. It is a well-known fact that the pandemic is far from over. It is even accelerating and spreading in some of the regions.

  1. Egypt Fact Sheet: SCORE Pilot Programme

    The SCORE pilot training programme began in Egypt in 2018, with a sector selection study that identified the chemical and engineering sectors as sectors with high growth and job creation potential and meet other criteria by SCORE globally. The ILO partnered with the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) to identify the SMEs that would benefit most from the training, and fit the criterion of employing 30-300 workers.
