  2. Pro-employment macroeconomic frameworks, sectoral strategies for employment creation and the informal economy - Employment Policy Department Knowledge-Sharing Workshop

    The Employment Policy Department’s 2011 annual retreat took place between the 20th and 23rd of September at the ILO premises in Geneva. Its goal was to share knowledge on progress made in five key work areas of the department: pro-employment macroeconomic frameworks, youth employment, sectoral strategies for employment creation, national employment policy formulation and research frontiers on the informal economy.

  6. International Symposium on National Qualifications Framework

    8 - 9 September 2011

    The NQF Symposium hosted jointly by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and the ILO aimed at building the intellectual project of NQFs in general and the South African NQF in particular. It sought to analyze and evaluate the impact of the South African NQF and the basket of policies of which it is part, on the national goals of growth and development.

    The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), the South African Domestic Service & Allied Workers Union (SADSAWU), together with NACTU and FEDUSA and the ILO, hosted a Summit for Domestic Workers, 27-28 August 2011, at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg, South Africa.
