    13 - 16 April 2013

    The Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Mr. Guy Ryder, paid an official visit to Algeria from 13 to 16 April 2013 at the invitation of the Algerian Government and the social partners.

    On 2nd January 2013, the International Labour Organization (ILO), Ministry of Social Services and Development and Horn Relief Development (HRD) held a Public Private Forum to discuss the role of women in business.

  5. Business skills training for IDPs

    23 February - 14 March 2013

    On 23rd February - 14th March 2013, ILO, EU and Horn Relief Development trained 20 women from Internally Displaced Camps in basic business skills. The eighteen day intensive training programme was held at Hawo Taako Center, Mogadishu.

  6. Promotion of Decent Work in the South African Transport Sector

    From 3 to 8 February 2012, the Social and Economic Council of Flanders (SERV) is hosting a delegation of the social partners of the South African Port of Durban for a study trip to different ports in Flanders and the Netherlands. The study trip to the Netherlands is hosted by the Dutch trade union FNV. It feeds into the ILO project “Promotion of Decent Work in the South African Transport Sector” co-funded by the Flemish and Dutch governments.

  7. International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2012

    Every 3rd of December, persons with disabilities across all nations gather to commemorate the International Day of the Disabled (IDPD). The event which is observed annually internationally goes way back to 1992 with different themes each year all addressing the various concerns of persons with disabilities with the aim of promoting awareness towards inclusiveness.

    The 2012 Global South-South Development Expo in Vienna (Austria) placed the spotlight on Energy and Climate Change. The ILO Solution Forum on Energy, Climate Change and Decent Work (20 November) covered inclusive access to decent work, follow-up to Rio+20, green jobs, social protection and the promotion of workers’ rights in the field of renewable energy and climate change.
