  1. TACKLE end of project global stakeholders workshop

    2 - 3 July 2013

    'TACKLE', Tackling child labour through education, is a joint project of the European Commission and the ILO with the support of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP). Launched in 2008, TACKLE aims at fighting child labour in 12 countries. An end of project global workshop takes place in Brussels on 2 and 3 July 2013.

  2. The National Youth Conference on Youth Skills for Employment, Entrepreneurship and Industry Growth

    24 - 27 June 2013

    The aim of the conference was to orient policy makers, business leaders and practitioners on the necessity and advantages of future planning for youth participation in the economic development of the country. It provided participants with an opportunity to take stock of achievements of existing policies and programmes aimed at skills development and employment creation through entrepreneurship.

  3. ILO Skills for Youth Employment and Rural Development Programme and the UNDAF (Zimbabwe) on a Joint mission

    5 - 6 June 2013

    Recently, an ILO mission comprising various stakeholders went to witness the launch and the handover of equipment and toolkits for youth skills and employment creation projects in Mutare by the Skills for Youth Employment and Rural Development programme.

  4. Namibian Ministerial delegation visits ILO Pretoria

    31 May 2013

    A Namibian ministerial delegation led by the Honorable Alphaus V Muheua, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, paid a courtesy visit to the ILO Office in Pretoria. Discussions focused on the upcoming International Labour Conference, the link between the SADC & the AU Labour and Social Affairs Commission.

  5. National Policy Dialogue on Labour-Based Technology for Infrastructure Development

    30 - 31 May 2013

    The National Council for Construction (NCC) in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Road Development Agency (RDA), the National Road Fund Agency (NRFA), the Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications (MTWSC) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) hosted the National Policy Dialogue on Mainstreaming of Labour Development Workshop, from30-31 May 2013 at the New Government Complex, Lusaka, Zambia.

  6. African Youth Experts Meeting on Youth Employment

    20 - 21 May 2013

    Pan Africanism, Decent Work and Youth Employment are at the heart of the ILO’s participation to this African Youth Experts Meeting; a key event leading up to the African Youth Forum (22 – 24 May 2013) and to the African Union Golden Jubilee, 25 May 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

  8. Regional Employers Workshop on the role of Employers’ in Skills Development Policies and Systems

    25 - 26 April 2013

    The workshop strengthened the capacity of Employers’ Organizations (EOs) and promoted knowledge sharing on effective policies, strategies and programmes for skills development. The meeting highlighted the role and contribution that employers should play in improving effectiveness and relevance of the skills training.

  9. Focus on Maternity Protection in Lesotho

    23 - 24 April 2013

    The regional workshop on Maternity Protection emphasized the modern approaches to maternity protection and its feasibility for Lesotho, its different dimensions and the importance of social insurance approach as a corner stone of maternity income protection.

  10. Green jobs on target in Namibia

    17 - 18 April 2013

    The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, in collaboration with the ILO and with the support of the government of Finland, hosted a national workshop to reinforce the link between the green economy in Namibia and job creation under the theme: “Unlocking the employment creation potential of the emerging green economy in Namibia”.
