    This conference, jointly organized by the ILO, IOM and GIZ, and with the support of ENABEL and OFII, brought together more than 150 face-to-face and 65 online people from all North African countries, many European countries. Participants represent government actors, the private sector, vocational training, public employment services, and social partners from Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia, as well as EU Member States.

  7. ILO Mozambique supports TRANSFORM training on social protection for Ministry of Economy and Finance

    The Ministry of Economy and Finance of Mozambique (MEF), with ILO’s technical and financial support, kicked off today a three-day application of the TRANSFORM package for policymakers, which is taking place in Boane district (Maputo Province) between 14 and 16 November 2022. This training is being supported by the IrishAid-ILO programme “Inclusive Growth, Social Protection and Jobs” as well as the United Nations Joint Programme on Social Protection 2017-2023, funded by the embassies of Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom. MEF requested ILO’s support for building the institutional capacities and skills of 24 senior technicians and enhance their knowledge and awareness on social protection, equipping them to better address existing challenges in the planning, budgeting, and implementation of social protection in Mozambique. By doing so, the goal is to support a more effective and efficient social protection system in Mozambique and ultimately contribute to increased fiscal space for the social protection sector, enabling coverage extension, increased adequacy, and better access.

  8. COP27: ILO events streamed from the Just Transition Pavilion

    Keeping the social dimension of climate change at the forefront of discussions is the focus of events being organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) at the up-coming UN Climate Change Conference (COP27). Together with the European Commission, the ILO hosts the first ever Just Transition Pavilion, a convening space for events, meetings and knowledge sharing around just transition and climate action in cooperation with the UNFCCC, International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and International Organisation of Employers (IOE).   10. Africa-Arab States fellowship for journalism students in labour migration reporting

    The ILO FAIRWAY programme has conducted back-to-back activities in Uganda and Jordan for journalism students and recent graduates of four universities: Makerere University (Uganda), Uganda Christian University (Uganda), Yarmouk University (Jordan) and Middle East University (Jordan). These activities are the first part of a broader cross-border fellowship aimed at increasing the interest of journalism students in international labour mobility, enhancing their labour migration reporting skills, and fostering cross-border networks to report these stories along a corridor approach.
