The Third Corporate Social Responsibility Annual Conference

The ILO Cairo Office and the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) in cooperation with USAID will hold the Third Corporate Social Responsibility Annual Conference in Cairo on 10 April 2017, titled "Impact of CSR Initiatives on Improving Egypt’s Economic Competitiveness".

Background Information

The Third Egyptian Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conference is organized by the International Labour Organization, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) with the support of the USAID in cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce and Sawiris Foundation for Social Development on 10 April 2017 in Cairo, Egypt.

This year will witness the organization of the First CSR Matchmaking Forum on 11 April 2017 to provide the necessary platform for companies, universities, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), ministries and NGOs to negotiate and conclude CSR partnerships targeting development projects.

More than 2000 senior representative, chairman, vice chairman, executive director, board member of employers’ organizations, multinationals, SMEs, entrepreneurs, universities, research centres and NGOs are expected to participate at the conference and at the matchmaking forum.

The conference will highlight the opportunities offered by business through its CSR programmes to create new jobs opportunities, to develop entrepreneurship, to support supply chains. Role of the universities, research centers, NGOs in developing CSR policies and the social compliance requirements will be discussed.

The objectives of the "Matchmaking Forum" are to:

• facilitate the establishment of new partnerships among different CSR stakeholders;
• enhance the level and quality of cooperation in CSR field;
• support the development of the current CSR initiatives; and
• ensure the synergy between the demand and the supply of the relevant stakeholders.
