Training of Judges and Prosecutors on Human Trafficking and Forced Labour

The ILO, Abuja Country Office in collaboration with National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and other related matters (NAPTIP), Italy within the ambit of the EU funded project “Enhancing the cooperation to fight trafficking in human beings from Nigeria and Europe (ECTIP)” held a training workshop for Judges and prosecutors at Eemjm Hotels and Suites, Uyo, Akwa Ibom Sate, South South of Nigeria.

The ILO, Abuja Country Office in collaboration with National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and other related matters (NAPTIP), Italy within the ambit of the EU funded project “Enhancing the cooperation to fight trafficking in human beings from Nigeria and Europe (ECTIP)” held a training workshop for Judges and prosecutors at Eemjm Hotels and Suites, Uyo, Akwa Ibom Sate, South South of Nigeria.

The main ojcetives of the workshop were - to improve the understanding of participants about the volume, trend, problems and challenges in combating human trafficking and forced labour in Nigeria; to enhance the capacity of participants in better protection of the rights of victims and witnesses in the administration of criminal justice; and to review the limitations and challenges being faced by prosecutors and judges in handling human trafficking and forced labour cases in Nigeria.
